The band begin their long awaited tour at London’s O2 Arena on 12th December, before visiting Belfast, Sheffield, Glasgow and Manchester finishing up with a homecoming show at Birmingham’s LG Arena on 20th December.

The tour supports Black Sabbath’s brand new album ’13′, which is due to be released on 10th June. This album is the first album Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler have recorded together in 35 years (since 1978′s ‘Never Say Die!’).

The metal legends recorded the album in Los Angeles with producer Rick Rubin (Johnny Cash, Metallica, System Of A Down) and features Rage Against The Machine’s Brad Wilk on drums, replacing original drummer Bill Ward.

The troubled music store HMV has today been saved by restructuring company Hilco for a estimated £50m.

The music and DVD retailer, which is the UK’s last surviving music store chain, first ran in to trouble back in Jan 2013; although the company had seen signs of strain months in advance due to tough competition with online rivals, supermarkets and digital downloads.

The Hilco takeover secures 132 HMV stores (66 were closed during administration), 9 Fopp branches, and saves up to 2500 jobs in the UK.

HMV posted a message on Facebook at 14:00hrs:

“Great news – we’re officially out of administration and now under the new ownership. 

The whole team here is working hard behind the scenes to bring you a new and improved hmv – a new website and digital service, a rebooted Pure rewards scheme and a fresh approach to our stores are all in the works.

We’ve got some exciting stuff in store for you, but all of this is going to take us a little time to perfect. For now, we’ll do our best to keep you up to date as we get everything ready to come back with a bang later in the year. 

So a big thank you for all your support and patience during the past few months. We really appreciate it and it makes us even more determined to provide you with a better hmv experience.

Introducing TC Electronics newest product, String Economy. The revolutionary software update, which will be available across all product lines from 1st April, 2013, will no longer process the D and G strings on your guitar, leaving your E, A, B and high E strings effected.

Tore Mogensen, Product Manager for Guitar at TC Electronic comments: “We are at the forefront of effects when it comes to quality and innovation. But in these times, that is simply not enough. Everything gets cut down to a bare minimum and we are huge believers in making effects that reflect the current times.

“So, we analysed over 40,000 guitar solos in all musical genres and concluded we could easily leave out the D and G string, as these strings are used 20 percent less than any other string.I mean, name one riff played on the G-string that’s not Smoke On The Water? Exactly. It’s time to move on and we believe we are trailblazing a new era for guitarists. Metal guys only use the first three strings anyway, and every lead guitarist relies heavily on the blues box on the D and G string and working the high E.

“While this may have led to some classic licks and solos over the years, we want to encourage guitarists to use the other strings as well – just think how guitarists will be forced to think creatively when chugging a low E chord when they do not have the D-string at their disposal!

“Also, by cutting out the D and G string, we free up almost 25 percent more processing power, allowing for richer effects and better tracking. It also allows us to store our effects in an even smaller housing, saving precious pedal board space!”

The Brit-poppers were involved in a bitter feud during the mid-90s when Gallagher, then a member of Oasis, was quoted as saying that he wished Albarn would “get AIDs and die”, while Albarn always claimed he’d never be friends with Gallagher. In recent years the pair have matured and look to have settled their differences for this one-time performance for charity.

The line-up included Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon and Noel Gallagher on guitar/vocals and Paul Weller on drums. Watch the group perform Blur’s classic track ‘Tender’ below.
