Bath Bluegrass Orchestra | Sat 21st May 2011

The first ever Bath Bluegrass Orchestra was assembled as part of a free workshop for the Bath Americana Festival (18-22 May 2011). The workshop was held at Hayesfield Girls School in Upper Oldfield Park, Bath in their brand new and state of the art sports & performing arts centre.

The workshop was the idea of the Mayor of Bath in waiting, Brian Chalker, who was invited to use the new sports & performing arts centre by the head of Hayesfield Girls School. The class was led by Tjaye Martin who is an experienced touring artist and outstanding country and bluegrass performer.

Attendees took part in the open jam session and had a great time playing alongside Tjaye who expertly led the group through numerous bluegrass standards, including: This Land Is Your Land – Woody Guthrie and Keep On The Sunny Side – The Carter Family.
