Guitarist Of The Year Awards 2011 – London Guitar Festival

This past weekend (3-4 June 2011) saw the Guitarist Of The Year competitions held at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, as part of The London Guitar Festival.

The competition is split into three main categories of five finalists selected from hundreds of entries by an expert panel of judges:

  • Young Guitarist Of The Year in association with Blackstar Amplification (aged 16 or under) – Finalists
  • Acoustic Guitarist Of The Year in association with Takamine Guitars (all ages) – Finalists
  • Guitarist Of The Year in association with Vigier Guitars (aged 17 and over) – Finalists

Well done to all the finalists and a huge congratulations to the winners!

The winners walk away with a fantastic guitar or amplifier package courtesy of the competition sponsors, plus a series of live performance and/or teaching opportunities provided by the International Guitar Foundation [IGF].

Richard Perkins is the founder of Bath Guitar School and has worked for the International Guitar Foundation, Brit Awards, Rockschool, B&NES Council, Mid Somerset Festival, Bath Music Plus, and appeared on BBC and ITV television and radio programming as well as being featured in Guitar Techniques, Total Guitar, Venue, Bath Life magazines and the Bath Chronicle newspaper.
