Black Sabbath Confirm New Album and Plan World Tour in 2012

Just months after Tony Iommi quashed rumours of a Black Sabbath reunion the band have announced they will release their first studio album since 1978, and are planning a world tour in 2012, at a press conference at the Whisky A-Go-Go in Los Angeles, where the band first played 41 years ago.

There has been rumour activity surrounding the band since mid-august with singer Ozzy Osbourne saying that material was “a very, very strong possibility. It’s in the very early stages, so we haven’t recorded anything yet.”

Tony Iommi has also been quoted as saying that the band recently regrouped at Osbourne’s home earlier in the year to play some music “for a bit of fun, and to see if we could all play. It was good, but it was just purely, ‘Let’s have a go and see what happens.’ ” (source:
